All students will get four option choices over three years.
All students need to select one humanities option either Geography or History [if they wish to do both subjects they can choose their second humanities from the GCSE list below].
The majority of our students will follow at least one technical choice from Year 9. The internal optional technical courses include:
- Travel and Tourism
- Food Technology
They will also choose GCSE subjects from:
- Product Design
- Religious Education
In addition to this, we have six days each year where the timetable is collapsed to allow for the intensive delivery of specific activities. We call these days L4L (Learning For Life) days.
Each year group has a programme which includes enterprise Careers, Inspiration, Advice and Guidance (CIAG) work related and financial activities as well as PSHE and Citizenship. Staff are divided into cross curricular teams to plan and deliver the programme. We have developed productive links with the Education Business Partnership and we are beginning to establish progression in the programme. Strong business links have also been established.
In addition to this, SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) is embedded throughout the curriculum and through our pastoral system, including tutor activities and relative and specific assemblies. Through this we promote British Values of Democracy, The Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Tolerance for those of different Faiths and Cultures.
