Our ‘REAL’ students were given the opportunity to participate in a thought-provoking educational visit to Eden Camp, North Yorkshire, as an immersion event to form part of our 3rd REAL project of the year.
Eden Camp is holder of both the English and Yorkshire Tourist Boards Attraction of the Year Awards with its immersive displays that bring history to life. Housed in an original Prisoner of War Camp, the visit to this unique, award-winning museum transported our young people back in time to wartime Britain.
The students experienced the sights and sounds and even the smells of both the Home Front and Front Line in a series of expertly recreated scenes and even included a visit to the 1940s music hall to enjoy a puppet show and listen to the music from Dame Vera Lynn, George Formby and Gracie Fields.
The experiences gained from the trip will be used to inspire and evoke further learning of WWII, evacuees and how communities came together to keep up morale in times of difficulty.
