A smooth transition from primary to secondary school is important in terms of preparing students for learning at Kingsmeadow. While moving to secondary school is exciting, it is also a change and it is natural that students and parents can feel anxious about the process. At Kingsmeadow we aim to make the transfer from primary to secondary school as easy and informative as possible. This page contains some useful information for parents and students regarding the transition process.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to Kingsmeadow School. This is a great school that is making strides in all areas. Our results over the last few years have seen a steady climb, placing us amongst the top non-selective schools in Gateshead. I am very proud to be the leader of such a successful school. The experience your child will receive will be second to none, supported by a strong pastoral team and challenged to learn by a focused group of teaching staff.
I am sure that over the course of your child’s time with us they will achieve all those goals and milestones that will ensure they have the best possible platform to go on and succeed in their future choices.

We are delighted that you have chosen Kingsmeadow School for you child and we look forward to developing a positive and supportive relationship with you, to ensure that your child is happy and successful.

There are a number of ways you can support your child to ensure that they settle in quickly to their new school.
Checklist:

Make sure they have a school bag.

Make sure they have a pen, pencil, school planner and PE kit (on the days they have PE) – the four Ps.

Check all homework is completed each evening.

Check all homework is being recorded in their planner. If your child is not getting homework, please contact the school.

Check your child has their Accelerated Reader book every day and is reading for at least twenty minutes every day.
